James McCabe, Royal Exchange, London, first quality spring detent pocket chronometer, 13 jewels, key wind and set, gilt half plate movement with Earnshaws spring detent escapement, cut bimetallic balance with gold timing screws and helical balance spring in an 18 karat, yellow gold, hinged back and bezel, reeded edge, engine turned, consular open face case with London hallmark, date letter for the year 1849, and case makers mark "GH" for Gustavus Huguenin, Roman numeral, silver dial and gold fleur de lis hands, serial #15509, 50mm, 108.4g TW.

CASE: Shallow dent, back; A few minor dings and pin pricks; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Scratches on dome; Engine turning with moderate wear; Bow worn; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Very good. HANDS: Some loss to blue, seconds; Very good, hour and minute. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate; Balance cock foot and detent mount with minor marring. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks) .
